Overview of Amoebiasis

Amoebiasis is an intestinal parasitic infection caused by the protozoan Entamoeba histolytica. This condition is more common in regions with inadequate sanitation and can affect individuals across Slough and neighbouring areas such as Langley, Windsor, and Maidenhead who have recently travelled or consumed contaminated food or water.

How Amoebiasis is Transmitted

Fever

General fatigue and weakness

Localised stomach pain

In more severe cases, liver abscesses may develop as the parasite migrates beyond the intestines.
