Testosterone Check (Testosterone & SHBG)

The Testosterone Check measures total testosterone, SHBG, and Free Androgen Index (FAI) together, giving a fuller picture of hormonal health than a testosterone reading on its own. Because SHBG determines how much testosterone is actually free and usable in the body, two people with the same total testosterone level can have very different symptoms depending on their SHBG which is why this test looks at all three markers rather than just one.

It's a useful check for anyone experiencing symptoms that could be linked to abnormal testosterone levels. In men, this can include low libido, erectile dysfunction, fatigue, low mood, or difficulty building muscle despite training. In women, it can include irregular menstrual cycles, low libido, fatigue, or signs of excess androgen such as unwanted hair growth. It's also commonly used to help investigate polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or as a baseline check before deciding whether treatment such as testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is appropriate.

No fasting is required for this test, though it's worth following any specific instructions from your own doctor if you've been given any.
