Apolipoprotein B (12h Fasting)
Apolipoprotein B (apoB) is a protein that is primarily responsible for transporting cholesterol in the bloodstream. It is the main component of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), also known as "bad cholesterol." ApoB is synthesized in the liver and is then secreted into the bloodstream, where it binds to cholesterol and other lipids. High levels of apoB have been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, as LDL particles are thought to contribute to the development of atherosclerosis, or the buildup of plaque in the arteries. This can lead to a variety of cardiovascular conditions, including heart attack and stroke.
There is an additional £20 phlebotomy fee for every donation.
