Insulin
Insulin is a hormone that is produced by the pancreas and plays a critical role in regulating blood sugar (glucose) levels in the body. Insulin helps to lower blood sugar levels by signaling the body's cells to take up glucose from the bloodstream and use it for energy or store it for later use. When you eat food, your body breaks down carbohydrates into glucose, which is absorbed into the bloodstream. In response, the pancreas releases insulin into the bloodstream, which helps glucose enter the body's cells. Without insulin, the body's cells would be unable to use glucose for energy, leading to high blood sugar levels and a condition known as diabetes. Insulin also plays a role in the storage of excess glucose in the liver and muscles for later use. In addition, insulin promotes the storage of fat in adipose tissue (fat cells).
