Adiponectin
Adiponectin affects a number of metabolic processes in the body, in particular the metabolism of glucose and fatty acids in the liver and muscles, indirectly increasing insulin sensitivity and reducing body weight. Determination of adiponectin in the blood is useful in the diagnosis and control of type 2 diabetes treatment, in the diagnosis of adipose tissue metabolism and lipid catabolism.
