These tests look for an allergic (IgE) response. They don't test for food intolerances. A positive result shows sensitisation, not always a true allergy, so it's best read alongside your symptoms. A GP consultation can help.
Common questions
Do I need to stop antihistamines?
No. Unlike skin-prick tests, blood tests for IgE aren't affected by antihistamines, so keep taking your usual medicines.
Do I need to fast?
No. You can eat and drink as normal before an allergy blood test.
How long do results take?
About 5 days for most allergy tests (ALEX3 about 7 days), in your secure online account.
How do I choose my own allergens?
For Allergy Profiles I, II and III you pick the allergens. Call 020 3633 2371 or WhatsApp us and we'll help you choose before your appointment.
Can my child be tested?
Yes, at our Slough or Neasden clinic. Please call 020 3633 2371 before booking a child's appointment.
What if I have a severe reaction?
A blood test can't treat or rule out a dangerous reaction. If you have swelling of the lips or throat, or difficulty breathing, call 999 straight away.
