Histamine

Histamine is a chemical that is released by the body in response to an allergen or injury. It is a key mediator of the inflammatory response, causing the symptoms of an allergic reaction such as itching, sneezing, and an increase in mucus production. Histamine can also cause the blood vessels to dilate, leading to the characteristic redness and swelling associated with an allergic reaction.
