RBC Folate

RBC folate is a blood test that measures the level of folate (also known as vitamin B9) in red blood cells. Folate is an important nutrient that is necessary for the proper function of red blood cells, as well as for DNA synthesis and cell division. A low level of RBC folate can indicate a deficiency of this nutrient, which can lead to anemia and other health problems. The RBC folate test is used to diagnose and monitor folate deficiencies, and is often ordered along with other tests to evaluate the cause of anemia or to monitor the effectiveness of folate supplementation.
