About this profile
ALEX3 is a comprehensive allergy blood test that screens for IgE sensitisation to 300 allergens from a single sample, using a multiplex nanotechnology-based method. Rather than testing one allergen at a time, it checks whole allergen extracts and individual molecular components together, alongside a total IgE measurement, giving a much fuller picture of what may be triggering a reaction.
The panel covers grass, tree and weed pollens, house dust mites and storage mites, cat and dog dander, wasp and bee venom, moulds and yeasts, a wide range of food allergens, and latex. It's particularly useful for people who react to more than one type of trigger, or who haven't been able to pin down the cause of their symptoms through standard single-allergen testing.
This test is worth considering if you have symptoms that suggest multiple or unclear allergies, if you have a personal or family history of asthma, eczema or hay fever, or if you'd simply prefer one broad screen instead of several separate tests. No fasting or special preparation is required.
Only a blood sample is needed, and results are typically available within 7 days. As with any allergy test, the results should be interpreted alongside your medical history and clinical examination rather than on their own, and the clinical indications above are general guidance rather than an exhaustive list.
