About this profile

Gyne Profile – Female
The Gyne Profile – Female is a comprehensive diagnostic test designed to detect and evaluate a wide range of gynecological and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in women. It combines a genital swab culture with an STI PCR panel to provide an accurate and detailed assessment of infections that may affect the female reproductive tract.

Indications for testing
This test is recommended for women who experience symptoms such as abnormal vaginal discharge, itching, burning sensation, pelvic pain, or unpleasant odor. It is also suitable for those with a history of recurrent infections, individuals who are sexually active, or women undergoing routine gynecological screenings, pre-surgical evaluations, or fertility assessments.

What can be detected?
The Gyne Profile – Female consists of two key components that work together to provide a complete overview of reproductive and sexual health:

1. Female Genital Swab Culture:
Detects and identifies bacterial and fungal organisms responsible for vaginal and reproductive tract infections.

Candida spp.: Common yeast responsible for vaginal thrush, causing itching, irritation, and discharge.

Staphylococcus aureus: Can lead to genital irritation or more severe infections in certain cases.

Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus): May cause infections, especially in pregnant women and newborns.

Gram Examination: Provides a microscopic analysis of bacterial flora and infection severity.

2. STI PCR Panel:
A molecular test that identifies the DNA of sexually transmitted pathogens with high sensitivity and accuracy.

Chlamydia trachomatis: Detects the bacteria that cause chlamydia, a common STI that can lead to infertility if untreated.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae: Identifies the bacteria responsible for gonorrhea, which can cause pelvic pain and discharge.

Mycoplasma genitalium: Detects a less common STI linked to cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease.

Trichomonas vaginalis: Identifies the parasite causing trichomoniasis, often associated with irritation and discharge.

Gardnerella vaginalis: Detects bacterial overgrowth commonly associated with bacterial vaginosis (BV).

Who is this test for?
The Gyne Profile – Female is ideal for women with symptoms of genital discomfort, abnormal discharge, or recurring infections. It is also suitable for sexually active women, those with multiple partners, or individuals seeking a thorough reproductive health evaluation as part of their wellness routine.

Fasting requirements
Fasting is not necessary for this test. However, it’s advised to avoid using vaginal creams, lubricants, or douching 24 hours before the sample collection to ensure accurate results.
