Candida IgM
Candida IgM refers to the presence of immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies against Candida albicans, a type of yeast that is commonly found in the human body, in the blood. Candida albicans can cause a variety of infections in humans, including thrush, vaginal yeast infections, and invasive candidiasis. IgM antibodies are produced by the immune system in response to an acute infection, and they are typically the first type of antibody produced in response to a new infection. A positive IgM test for Candida suggests that the individual is currently infected with the yeast and their immune system is actively producing antibodies to fight the infection.
