What Is H. pylori?

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a spiral-shaped bacterium that infects the stomach lining and the upper part of the small intestine, known as the duodenum. This bacterial infection can cause significant irritation and damage to the digestive tract if left untreated.
