Lp-PLA2
Lp-PLA2 (Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2) is an enzyme that is primarily produced by inflammatory cells such as macrophages and T-cells. Elevated levels of Lp-PLA2 have been associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and other inflammatory conditions. Therefore, Lp-PLA2 is considered a biomarker of inflammation and a potential therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
