What Are Bence Jones Proteins?

Bence Jones proteins are unusual light chain immunoglobulins produced by abnormal plasma cells. Their presence in the blood can be a sign of multiple myeloma or related conditions and may contribute to kidney damage and other complications.

Clinical Applications

This test is primarily used alongside other diagnostic tools to help confirm and monitor the presence and progression of multiple myeloma and other disorders involving plasma cells.
