Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3, also known as niacin or nicotinic acid, is one of the eight B vitamins. It is an essential nutrient that plays a vital role in various bodily functions. Some of the key functions of vitamin B3 include: Energy metabolism: Vitamin B3 is required for the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins to produce energy. DNA repair: It helps in repairing damaged DNA and maintaining the integrity of the genetic material. Skin health: It is involved in maintaining healthy skin by promoting cell growth and repairing damaged skin. Cholesterol management: It can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and raise HDL (good) cholesterol levels. Brain function: Vitamin B3 is involved in the production of neurotransmitters, which are essential for proper brain function. Good dietary sources of vitamin B3 include meat, fish, poultry, peanuts, mushrooms, and whole grains. Niacin can also be synthesized in the body from the amino acid tryptophan, which is found in protein-rich foods like turkey, chicken, and soybeans. Please note: avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before the test, as alcohol can affect the absorption and metabolism of niacin.
