Zinc

Zinc is an essential mineral that is important for many functions in the body, including immune function, wound healing, and the synthesis of DNA. Abnormal levels of zinc in the blood may be indicative of certain medical conditions, such as malnutrition, liver disease, and certain types of cancer. Zinc deficiency can also occur in people with certain medical conditions, such as gastrointestinal disorders or sickle cell disease, or in people who consume a diet that is low in zinc.
