What Is an FOB Test?

The FOB (Fecal Occult Blood) test is a non-invasive screening tool used to detect hidden (occult) blood in the stool. This test helps identify gastrointestinal conditions that may not present visible symptoms, such as colorectal cancer, stomach ulcers, or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

How the FOB Test Works

When Is the FOB Test Recommended?

An FOB test is typically advised if you:

Are undergoing routine bowel cancer screening

What Happens After a Positive Result?

If blood is detected in the stool, further diagnostic procedures may be recommended. These can include additional stool tests, a colonoscopy, or imaging studies to determine the source and cause of the bleeding.
