Histones Antibodies

Histones are proteins that help package DNA into a compact form in the cell nucleus. Histones Ab, or histone antibodies, are antibodies that target histone proteins. These antibodies are associated with a number of autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), drug-induced lupus, and mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD). Histone Ab is most commonly associated with drug-induced lupus, which is a form of lupus that is triggered by certain medications.
