Reticulin IgA
Reticulin IgA refers to the presence of immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies against reticulin, a type of protein that is found in the connective tissue of organs and tissues. Reticulin IgA testing is used as a diagnostic tool for autoimmune diseases such as autoimmune hepatitis, where the immune system mistakenly attacks the liver cells, leading to inflammation and damage. In autoimmune hepatitis, reticulin antibodies are produced and can be detected in the blood. The presence of reticulin IgA antibodies can also be associated with other autoimmune diseases, such as celiac disease and type 1 diabetes. Reticulin IgA testing is typically used in conjunction with other diagnostic tests, such as liver function tests and imaging studies, to confirm a diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis. The tests are also used to monitor treatment response in individuals with autoimmune hepatitis.
