RNP Antibodies

RNP Ab stands for Ribonucleoprotein Antibodies. These are a group of antibodies that target proteins that are bound to RNA in the nucleus of the cell. These antibodies are associated with several autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), and scleroderma. RNP Ab is most commonly associated with MCTD, which is a rare autoimmune disease that shares some features of lupus, scleroderma, and polymyositis. However, these antibodies can also be found in individuals with other autoimmune diseases, including SLE and scleroderma.
