SS-A (Ro) Antibodies
SSA (Ro) Ab refers to an antibody that targets a protein called SSA or Ro, which is an extractable nuclear antigen (ENA). These antibodies are commonly found in individuals with autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Sjogren's syndrome. SSA (Ro) antibodies are particularly associated with Sjogren's syndrome, which is an autoimmune disease that primarily affects the salivary and lacrimal glands, leading to dry eyes and mouth. However, SSA (Ro) antibodies can also be found in individuals with other autoimmune diseases, including SLE and neonatal lupus, which is a rare condition that can affect infants born to mothers with SSA (Ro) antibodies.
