Urine: Vanillylmandelic Acid (VMA)

Vanillylmandelic acid (VMA) is one of the metabolites of the catecholamines; epinephrine (adrenaline), norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and dopamine. VMA is elevated in patients with catecholamine-secreting tumors (eg, neuroblastoma, pheochromocytoma, and other neural crest tumors). For samples requiring 24 hours collection, total volumes must be noted. Specialist test please call laboratory for instructions and appointment.
