β2-GPI Antibodies IgA

What is Beta-2 Glycoprotein 1 (Beta-2 GPI)?
Beta-2 Glycoprotein 1, also known as apolipoprotein H, is an amino acid polypeptide produced by hepatocytes (liver cells), endothelial cells, and trophoblast cells. It plays a critical role in blood coagulation and immune system regulation.

Anti-Beta-2 GPI Antibodies and Their Role
Anti-beta-2 GPI antibodies are highly specific markers used to identify patients with anti-cardiolipin antibodies, particularly those associated with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). These antibodies are commonly found in individuals with autoimmune conditions, especially systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Clinical Conditions Linked to APS and Anti-Beta-2 GPI Antibodies
Patients with antiphospholipid syndrome and elevated anti-beta-2 GPI antibodies may present with:

Thrombosis (blood clots in veins or arteries)

Pregnancy Complications, such as recurrent miscarriages or preeclampsia

Thrombocytopenia (low platelet count)

Hemolytic Anaemia (destruction of red blood cells)

Nonbacterial Thrombotic Endocarditis
